comScore‘s latest quarterly surveys for the U.S. mobile phone wars are out for the summer months. While Google’s Android operating system still leads the pack with 51.6 percent of the platform market share, Apple moved up to 40.7 percent, even before the sensational September sales of its iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s.

You could treat your cloud like a data center full of servers with system administrators cracking the whip over them. But that would be wrong.
It would also technically and financially foolish. To get the most from your cloud, you need to get not just your administrators, a.k.a. operators, thinking in different ways, but your developers as well. With clouds, they must learn to — oh, the horror!
Hence, DevOps, the portmanteau of development and operations.

There are many reasons to switch to a Linux desktop from Windows. Better security; not having to worry over possible built-in privacy leaks; and, last but never least, Linux is cheaper… a lot cheaper.

Everyone needs cloud-savvy administrators, but there aren’t enough to go around. Worse still, if someone does come to you and they say they know OpenStack like the back of their hand, how do you know they do? Or, flipping it around, if you’re a smart system administrator who wants to pick up mad OpenStack cloud skills, how do you do that?

October 1st was the day. The US government may have shutdown, but despite the best efforts of Tea Party Republicans, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act’s centerpiece — the state and Federal health exchanges where people can shop for insurance coverage — is open for business.
Sort of. Some if the sites — including the federal flagship Website Healthcare.gov — were mired with problems on the first day.
