Many people can talk a good cloud game, but when it comes to building cloud applications, it’s another matter.
That’s why the Cloud Foundry Foundation and The Linux Foundation is creating a cloud developer education and certification initiative: The “Cloud Foundry Certified Developer” program.
In a recent survey, the Cloud Foundry Foundation found that “64% of IT professionals and executives agree that the developer shortage is a real threat.”

The popular big data program Apache’s Hadoop is difficult to use. Indeed, Datanami, an important big data publication, recently found that “the Hadoop dream of unifying data and compute in a distributed manner has all but failed in a smoking heap of cost and complexity”. One reason? “It’s just a very complicated stack to build on.”
One answer: Educate developers. That’s where The Linux Foundation comes in with its latest massive open online course (MOOC): LFS103x — Introduction to Apache Hadoop.

Google lives and dies on open-source software. Without Linux, there would be no Google. The company both uses and makes open-source code every day of the year. In 2017 alone, Google has open-sourced Chrome for iOS; Upspin file-sharing; E2EMail, experimental end-to-end email encryption; and the Guetzli JPEG encoder. There’s only one problem. Managing containers isn’t easy. That’s where such programs as Docker swarm mode, Kubernetes, and Mesosphere can make or break your containers initiatives. Perhaps the most popular of these, Kubernetes, has a new release, Kubernetes 1.6, that expands its reach by 50 percent to 5,000 node clusters. Conservatively, that means Kubernetes can manage 25,000 Docker containers at once.

Last week, to protect myself from the Apple iCloud crack, I changed my password for my Apple ID, which is also the iCloud. So far, so good. Then, I discovered that my 6th generation iPod Touch, running iOS 10.2.1, wouldn’t remember my new Apple/iCloud password. Soon afterwards, some friends using iPhone 7 and iPhone 6s smartphones were having the same trouble. In fact, one of them is still having trouble after updating to the brand new iOS 10.3.
