"11% of Windows users have already decided to switch rather than ‘upgrade’ to Vista."

I believe that is an estimate of 11% of system administrators. That could be 50 million seats or so, about 70% of PC seats now running GNU/Linux. Combine that with meaningful sales of PCs with GNU/Linux installed this year, and we are close to 100% growth in seats. That is great. Depending on how that goes, more could join in the coming years. GNU/Linux will have a market share that OEMs, hardware manufacturers and many users will not be able to ignore. We will live to see real competition in the market for software, PCs and client OS. It's about time. Who would have thought that M$ would kill the lock-in they spent a decade or more cultivating? I was thinking it could be 5 years or more before a new equilibrium was established. Now it looks like 2 or 3 years, will be sufficient. Last year we had the crack in the retail market. Vista has been flopping for 1.5 years. All that is left is important providers of software for business producing versions for GNU/Linux. Expect that next year if this survey of intentions bears fruit. Some of those surveyed will have influence with providers of software.
