Of course, it could retain the Xandros name for the OS, but it would be alot like how Dell bought Alienware and integrated alot of Alienware's stuff into Dell's XPS line without getting rid of the Alienware brand that they now own. The Linspire/Freespire OS code base could be integrated into the Xandros OS, thus placing Xandros on an Ubuntu base. This would be inevitable since Linspire made a partnership deal with Canonical that Xandros may inherit. If that's the case, then that means that there will be quite a few more apps which will be made in binary form for Ubuntu-based systems exclusively, given the possible exposure of Ubuntu-based systems through the eeePC preinstall of Xandros (and now "Xandros Linspire"). Plus, since Canonical announced that Netbook Remix, I'm sure that Xandros will use that Canonical partnership to use a rebranded version of Ubuntu Netbook Remix for the Xandros Linspire OS on eeePC.
